How does Ruune attach to my phone, and will it work with my case?
Ruune snaps onto any phone with MagSafe or a magnetic case — iPhone 12 and newer, and most Android phones. No magnetic case? We include a magnetic ring adapter in the box, so it works with any phone. It passes the magnet through, so you can still snap a wallet on top.
Do I need to put my phone on speakerphone to capture a call?
No. Ruune has its own contact mic, so it picks up the conversation on its own — you don’t need speakerphone, and you don’t need to hold the phone a certain way.
Can I record through my headphones or earbuds?
No. iOS and Android don’t let apps capture audio from connected headphones or the other side of a call, so recording can’t route through your earbuds. Ruune captures with its own onboard mic instead — just keep it attached and it hears the room.
Does Ruune require an active internet connection to capture audio?
No. Ruune holds 140 hours of local flash storage. You can record in airplane mode, deep underground, or on remote flights. The moment your device reconnects to your phone, your encrypted buffer syncs and transcribes automatically.
Is my voice or conversation data used to train AI models?
Never. Your audio and transcripts are never used to train an LLM, ours or anyone else's. Audio is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256, and Privacy Mode transcribes without storing the audio at all.
Is Ruune always recording?
No. Ruune only records when you press the button. There is no always-on listening and no wake word. When the light is off, the mics are off.
What happens if I stay on the Free tier forever?

How does the Model Context Protocol server access work on the Max plan?
