About Ruune

An AI voice recorder that remembers for you.

Ruune is a mobile app that records meetings, calls, and voice memos, then turns them into searchable transcripts, summaries, and action items using on-device and cloud AI.

The app works as a standalone voice recorder on iPhone and Android. It also pairs with the Ruune MagSafe hardware device for hands-free ambient capture and phone-call recording via bone conduction.

Core features include: one-tap recording, 90+ language transcription, automatic speaker labels, AI-generated summaries and action items, calendar event extraction, Notion / Slack / Linear integrations, and a Privacy Mode that deletes audio after processing.

Quick fixes

First, try these.

90% of support tickets are solved by one of the steps below.

  1. 01

Make sure you have the latest version

Open the App Store or Play Store and tap Update if available. We ship fixes weekly.

  2. 02

    Check app permissions

Ruune needs Microphone access to record, Bluetooth to connect to your device, and (optionally) Calendar access to link notes to meetings. Grant these in your phone's Settings → Ruune.

  3. 03

    Confirm you're signed in

Recordings sync to your account — if you're signed out, they stay on the device until you sign back in. Open Settings → Account to check.

  4. 04

    Check your connection

Transcription, summaries, and sync all require internet. If a note is stuck on 'Processing', confirm Wi-Fi or cellular is active, then pull down on the note list to refresh.

  5. 05

    Force-quit and relaunch

If the app feels stuck or unresponsive, swipe it away from the app switcher and reopen. If the issue persists, restart your phone — it fixes more than you'd expect.

  6. 06

    Still stuck? Email us

Send a short description and the approximate time the issue happened to contact@iohumans.com. Include your app version (Settings → About) and we'll get you unstuck.

Help topics

Frequently asked.

Getting started

Open the Ruune app and tap Continue with Apple, Continue with Google, or Continue with Email. If you sign up with email, we'll send you a magic link — tap the link on your phone and you're in. No passwords to remember.
Yes. Ruune works as a standalone AI voice recorder on your phone. Open the Record tab to capture meetings, calls, and voice memos directly. The MagSafe Ruune device extends this with hands-free ambient recording and phone-call capture, but it is not required.
Tap the Record tab, then tap the large record button. Speak naturally — Ruune captures the audio and begins transcribing. When you're done, tap stop. Your transcript, summary, and action items appear within a few seconds in your note list.

Recording & transcription

Make sure Ruune has microphone permission. On iOS, open Settings → Ruune → Microphone and enable it. On Android, open Settings → Apps → Ruune → Permissions and allow Microphone. If the issue persists, fully close and relaunch the app.
Transcription happens in the cloud and typically takes 30–90 seconds per 10 minutes of audio. If a note has been stuck for more than a few minutes, pull down on the note list to refresh, or toggle airplane mode off and on to re-establish the connection. If it's still stuck, email us the note date and we'll investigate.
Phone call capture is supported through the Ruune hardware device via bone conduction. The mobile app alone cannot record the other side of a phone call due to platform limitations on iOS and Android. For in-person conversations and meetings, the app works perfectly on its own.
Ruune transcribes 90+ languages and automatically detects the language being spoken. You can change your preferred language under Settings → Language.

Device & sync

Open the Devices screen and pull down to rescan. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and the device has charge (hold the button for 2 seconds to check — the LED should blink). If the device doesn't appear, press and hold the button for 8 seconds to reset it, then scan again.
Sync happens automatically when your phone and device are within range and Wi-Fi is available. To force a sync, open the Devices screen and tap Sync Now. Five hours of audio typically transfers in about 35 seconds over Wi-Fi.
Firmware updates are delivered over the air. When an update is available, you'll see a banner in the Devices screen. Keep the device near your phone and plugged in while updating — it takes about 3 minutes.

Account & billing

Open Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your recordings, transcripts, summaries, and profile within 30 days, and cancels any active subscription. You can also email contact@iohumans.com and we'll delete your account for you.
Subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are managed through Apple. Open Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Subscriptions purchased on our website can be managed from Settings → Billing inside the Ruune app.
For in-app purchases, Apple handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com. For hardware or web purchases, email contact@iohumans.com within 30 days of purchase.

Privacy & security

Only you. Your recordings, transcripts, and summaries are private to your account. They're encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3. We never sell your data and we never use your audio to train third-party AI models.
Privacy Mode lets you keep the transcript and delete the audio automatically after processing. Enable it under Settings → Privacy → Privacy Mode. Useful for sensitive conversations where you want structured notes but no raw audio stored.
Open any note, tap the ••• menu in the top right, then choose Export (PDF, Markdown, or plain text) or Delete. Deletions are permanent and propagate across all your devices within seconds.
